 Mold/Tool Maker

Love the Outdoors? Ironwood Plastics, located in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan, has an opening for a Mold/Tool Maker due to a recent retirement.

The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years experience with injection mold building. Working knowledge of Pro-E and Master Cam software a plus. Sinker and Wire EDM knowledge preferred. Must be able to work with little or no supervision in a Team Environment.

Tooling Engineer (Future)

Oversee new mold design and work with internal mold makers, engineering staff and outside vendor network to bring projects to life. Work with internal team to identify root cause of issues and prevent recurrence.

Requires extensive experience with Mold Making, Mold Design and troubleshooting tooling issues. 2-5 years of 3-D parametric design software knowledge (Pro/E preferred).

Process Engineer (Future)

As a molding professional, you ensure that efficient and repeatable methods of processing are developed, implemented and adhered to. You will work closely with people at all levels of the organization to implement new processes, troubleshoot and train mold set-up and processing personnel. Some travel is required. Qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 5 years of injection molding processing experience, including automotive product experience. Significant experience in another injection molding technical field may compensate for the minimum experience.
  • Understand, practice and teach/train leading edge processing procedures for obtaining and maintaining Optimized Process Parameters
  • Knowledge and experience using Design of Experiments to develop optimized processes and processing control limits.
  • Knowledge and experience with state-of-the-art injection molding process control methods (scientific molding, cavity pressure, D3 processes etc.)
  • Background in automated insert molding, 2 color molding, continuous molding and/or over-molding.
